June 29

June 29

So I love Italy. It is warm…even hot! I can’t even explain how much better the heat makes it for me. Venice is…sooo beautiful! It’s perfect and doesn’t smell.
Once again we had to wait with our luggage at the train station to wait for transportation to our hotel (We are staying like 2o minutes away from Venice), luckily for not as long as Paris. We then took the train there…lol always fun madly rushing and shoving our bags up the train steps and into the right spots before the doors shut. Funny, when we got to the Holiday in with our stuff we were so excited to get a “normal” hotel that was cool inside. (Most of us were not dressed for warm weather. I was in jeans and two shirts. For some reason after so much cold I didn’t believe I would be warm again.) Come to find out that this Holiday Inn (conveniently located) was the wrong one. Ours was in fact like a mile or so away. So all of us, 23 now- we picked up Stacy, with our luggage and in the sweltering heat rolled over cobblestone and stuff to the Holiday Inn Express. It was kinda ruff, not gonna lie. We were all pretty grouse afterwards. It turns out that it is just as nice as the other…just farther away.
So then we (Rachel, Lila, and I share a room again) showered and got ready to go back into Venice. We ate dinner- salad (without mayo!!) and amazing spicy salami pizza- at a little restaurant. We had two interesting waiters Fredrico and Mario who seemed to have a thing for me and Lila. They kept slipping us little notes…”I love you!” “You are so beautiful!” and the last one that asked us what we were doing tonight and if we would have drinks with them later. The funny thing was is that after we read it and laugh (cuz it was both awkward and childish), we would look at them and they would just be starring at us smiling and waving. It was weird, yet flattering of course. Fredrico was young; Mario…not so much. Lol.
We shopped all afternoon and evening. There are tons of little shops all lined up on the beautiful streets filled with Italian jewelry, masquerade masks, tourists stuff, etc; however, they all sell the same things. So it kinda got old after awhile, but not the scenery. I really love Venice. It’s quite the romantical city with its waterways (instead of roads! There are actually water buses.) and bridges. It was cool to watch the sunset too; all the colors kinda changed and the whole place looked different…and it’s warm. Luv Sharele
