June 28

June 28

Today was our last day in France. We (Rachel, Lila, Cassie, and I) went shopping in the morning. We went to a lot of cool stores and I actually got stuff. For some reason I have had a hard time spending money on stuff other than food, but I am a little better now. We had the best tasting and looking ice cream ever; I think it was Italian gelato. They made the scoops flat and into flower petals. I got 4 flavors…Yum!

The rest of the day and night was spent on the night train to Italy. (Once again it was quite the adventure packing around 22 ish people and lots of luggage across the town. Some packed way too much. I faired well to average.) Our group was split up into different (ridiculously small) compartments that seat 6. The biggest issue was getting all of our suitcases in; we had no room ourselves. The luggage had to be hoisted up above our heads or jammed under the seats. There were two beds above the 6 main seats, and the main seats folded into 4 other beds so each had a place to sit. Confusing I know, but it wasn’t that bad for me, especially when you consider it was a 13+ hour ride. We watched Pride and Prejudice and then went to bed (after much struggle) and I woke up a few stops away from Venice. It was wonderful…and I hate trains.

Some last stuff from France…
-Lila and I have decided that France smells like a combination of body odors and rotting food with the occasional smoke and alcohol.
