June 10
So i hate 7:30- the time i woke up this morning. Church was at nine and a couple tube stops away. We even ended up a little late...but o well. It was cool...exactly the same as home minus the accents. O and it was not its own building..and it was hot and stuffy like all the other places here, kind of a let down.
A group of like 7 of us then took the tube and train (hour and half ride...in which i couldnt sleep...grr) and went to a wonderful little town called Bath. Silly i know, especially when all the stores say like "Hospital Bath" or "Eating Bath". Anyway, there was this little Abby in the middle of town which i just loved. And then the famous Roman Baths...expensive and probably not worth the money, but very cool to see. The Roman Baths are green hot spring baths that were used hundreds of years ago. Some of the oldest stuff buildings i've seen. Cool to think i was somewhere a Roman had actually sat and bathed, like in the movies. The rest of the town was just so perfect. Lots of little streets lined with the little stores and apartments. We saw the Royal Circus and the Royal Cresent...semi-famous apartment/houses in a perfect circle or cresent. Way neat! (PS should be featured above) On the ride home, i sat next to a man named Andreas, born and raised in London. So interesting, i probably went a little crazy on the questions, but i am so curious about everything- culture, views, norms, food, travel, etc. But he didn't mind. I learned soo much from him...and i think i even taught him a lot about Americans and stuff. So good for both of us.
O ya and yay..it was actually hot and sunny today!
New stuff i've learned and decided, etc...
-The money here is easy to spend, which is bad because they aren't just quarters..a pound is 2 dollars!
-I had a little better experience with food today and last night..a chicken kabab is not a kabab tho, its a pita with chicken and lettuce. And i like the ice cream...tho not the chocolate flakes..they taste like wax. (Eww and i tasted Turkish Delight..Rose flavored ice cream. Needless to say, I only like the smell of roses.)
-The people aren't rude..they are quiet and dont feel a need to talk. They are in a hurry tho..everyone for themselves..The men don't open doors for the women..i've noticed..unless they are married.
-My allergies are terrible here.
-I like dry hot better than the humid hot.
